Meet Drew
“The best departments aren’t defined by their budgets—they’re defined by their people. Leadership, teamwork, and accountability create excellence long before funding ever does.”

Drew’s journey in emergency services began at just 16 years old, volunteering with Search & Rescue and the local Fire Department in 2008. What began as a passion for helping others grew into a lifelong commitment to building stronger, safer, and more capable emergency service organizations across British Columbia.
Over the years, Drew served in nearly every role within the fire service — from Firefighter to Training Officer, Assistant Chief, and ultimately Fire Chief. His leadership has always focused on creating practical, sustainable systems that work for volunteer and composite departments, balancing modern standards with real-world constraints.
As Fire Chief, Drew:
-
Developed and implemented 5-year strategic and capital plans to guide responsible, long-term growth
-
Managed annual budgets exceeding $170,000, ensuring resources were used effectively and transparently
-
Modernized department policies and SOPs to align with NFPA and provincial standards
-
Led progressive, scenario-based training programs to improve operational safety and member confidence
-
Built inter-agency and regional partnerships, strengthening coordination between Fire, SAR, and First Responder organizations
A defining element of Drew’s leadership has been his collaboration with First Nations communities. Through his work with Barriere First Responders (BAFRS), he partnered closely with Simpcw First Nation, training members, developing a mutual-aid agreement, and building a trusted, long-term relationship that enhanced both communities’ emergency readiness. This collaboration continues to stand as a model for cooperative emergency management between rural and Indigenous partners.
In a deliberate effort to broaden his experience and perspective, Drew fast-tracked his move to Vancouver to work full-time as a Primary Care Paramedic. His goal was to experience urban and metro-centre emergency response from the ground level, learning directly from the frontline professionals who keep major systems running. This experience gave him unique insight into what works—and what doesn’t—at every level of emergency service delivery, from volunteer halls to large municipal systems.
Today, Drew continues to combine that hands-on paramedic experience with his role as founder of Rescue Ready Education (RRE) — an organization dedicated to providing high-quality, budget-conscious training for departments that need practical, real-world solutions.
With over 15 years of operational and leadership experience, Drew’s approach to consulting is grounded in authentic leadership, community collaboration, and people-first progress.
Meet Kyle (Qikai)
“Driving progress in emergency services with purpose, innovation, and proven results.”
Bringing a modern perspective and strong technical foundation, Kyle (Qikai) represents the next generation of leadership within Canada’s emergency services. His work bridges the worlds of operations, technology, and education — helping organizations modernize their systems, strengthen accountability, and improve overall performance.
Kyle’s career began in the volunteer and non-profit sector, where he developed a passion for emergency response, training, and community resilience. His early experiences with St. John Ambulance introduced him to structured emergency programs and inter-agency collaboration. From that foundation, he advanced into frontline operations and instructional design, contributing to the creation and delivery of modern responder education programs that align with evolving provincial and national standards.
In addition to his emergency services expertise, Kyle brings a background in computer science and data systems, giving him a unique edge in consulting. He has worked with a non-profit organization to develop custom databases, API integrations, and digital inventory management platforms, improving how critical assets are tracked, maintained, and reported. Using programming languages and data analysis,
Kyle helps departments identify operational trends, forecast needs, and streamline funding justifications through measurable, data-driven reporting.
This blend of technical capability and operational insight allows Kyle to design solutions that improve both frontline readiness and administrative efficiency — from policy and SOP development to digital transformation projects. He maintains current knowledge of provincial legislation, NFPA standards, and Occupational Health and Safety regulations, ensuring every recommendation meets modern compliance expectations.
While early in his career, Kyle brings energy, adaptability, and a forward-thinking mindset that complements Drew’s depth of field experience and leadership. Together, they offer a complete, balanced consulting partnership — combining decades of operational insight with the innovation and analytical expertise needed to prepare departments for the future of emergency services.
